Bingo and Laughs with Audrey Heartburn at Ultimate Picture Palace

CABARET, singing, dancing and lots of laughter… if you think you know bingo… think again.

Tonight (Saturday 28 May), Oxford’s newest independent cinema, The Ultimate Picture Palace, is hosting a glamorous evening of comedy, music and your grandma’s favorite game, with a cinematic twist.

Bingo at Tiffany’s is an evening of outrageous fun, presented at the Cowley Road cinema by comedian Tracey Collins in her guise as faded film star Audrey Heartburn.

Prizes include a £50 voucher for dinner at The Chester on Chester Street near Iffley Road (famous for its acclaimed steak platters and Middle Eastern vegan mezze), and cocktails at the newly refurbished Randolph Hotel.

Tracey, who has already delighted Oxford audiences with her other creation, aspiring rock diva Tina T’urner Tea Lady, told us the last time she came: “Audrey Heartburn is heartbroken by Hollywood and seeks love in the real world, with ordinary people; a flawed and ridiculous version of the archetypal Holly Golightly.”

“I’m drawn to larger-than-life characters,” she said. “I love the feeling of freedom and anarchy in them. Some characters come from people I’ve met in real life, and for others I take the essence of famous people and turn it into something brand new.

“I like to explore showbiz, the mundane and the surreal.

“I like to interact with the public and make them play.”

Oxford Mail:

And Audrey is her favorite character.

“Lately, I’ve explored its playful and ridiculous side. It was joyous to have her “date” with a member of the public, rolling on the floor in glamorous sequins, beads and feathers.

The night is a partnership with the irrepressible Vez Hoper of the Irregular Folks of Oxford – who have already staged festivals and beautiful events everywhere from Oxford meadows and riverside gardens to a gin distillery.

“I love working with Irregular Folks,” says Tracey. “There is so much heart, soul and joy in their work and I always feel in very good hands. And the Oxford public is a great pleasure!

An excited Vez said, “Expect an evening of hilarious bingo games, loud songs and glamorous dancing.”
