The benevolent players of St Andrew’s Hospice Lottery have dug deep to help raise an incredible £ million over the past year.

Defying the pandemic, these magnificent funds are helping to provide “expert and compassionate care to the local people” in the communities of Lanarkshire served by the Airdrie Hospice.

The lottery, which costs £ 1 per week to play, is a crucial source of income for the association.

The past year has been a particularly difficult time for fundraising, but the steady income from contributions to the Fan Lottery has been a financial lifeline, enabling the hospice to provide essential care and support to people. living with life-limiting illnesses and loved ones, both in the hospice and Lanarkshire communities.

John Brady, Head of Hospice Fundraising, told Lanarkshire Live: “Thanks to the commitment and hard work of our dedicated lottery team, weekly lottery revenue has exceeded £ 1million. .

“The kindness shown by the people of Lanarkshire has helped fund our vital services at a time when our usual events have had to be canceled.

“This generosity has had a real impact, as the hospice is able to maintain vital services throughout the pandemic, helping families create special memories together and ensuring that our patients live as actively as possible, for as long as possible. ‘they can and have the best possible quality of life.

“We listened to the public’s comments and some people said they would rather donate monthly than play the weekly lottery.

“So our team of canvassers are now promoting a new service where people can donate £ 10 per month if they choose.

“They will always wear a St Andrew’s Hospice t-shirt or jacket and always have ID with them, so pay attention to them in your area.”
