Chawrasia finishes T56 as Larrazabal wins in Spain
Indian golfer SSP Chawrasia hit a par 70 on the final round to finish T-56 at the ISPS Handa Championship here.
The even turn helped the 43-year-old, the only Indian on the pitch, move up eight places from his overnight position of T64 to finish T56.
Chawrasia had three birdies and as many bogeys in the last lap. Pablo Larrazábal birdied the final hole on the 62-under 8-under card and earned a one-stroke victory at home.
Larrazabal, 38, who won in South Africa last month, started the day three shots down on the lead and had a five-birdie streak from ninth.
Fellow Spaniard Adrian Otaegui and his two playing partners in the final group, Canadian Aaron Cockerill and South African Hennie Du Plessis, were present until the home stretch after dividing a three-way tie for the lead at the end of 54 holes.
Larrazabal’s under-15 total earned him his seventh Tour title by one shot. Otaegui had the chance to force a shoot-off with an eagle chance at the end, but a birdie was only enough to finish a shot back in second place, with Cockerill and Du Plessis finishing a shot further back in a share of third on 13 under.
