Seeing a real face in an online game is important for gamers. Live resellers are popular in real money online casinos, and now a social casino does something similar. The editors of Play live bingo claim their product would be the first social casino game with live hosts calling the winning numbers 24 hours one day.

There are already other social casinos with games featuring live hosts, but none are running 24/7.

The social casino gambling controversy

Social casino games are very popular and just as controversial. For some, they scratch the same itch as gambling, but social casino companies don’t have to face the same legal and regulatory issues as “real” gambling companies.

This could change, however. Ongoing games lawsuits take Apple’s App Store and google play to even offer them.

Complainants argue that free apps take money for the chance to play longer, which constitutes gambling. They say social casino games are therefore online gambling applications.

Previous cases against game providers have resulted in a settlement. This leaves the subject of social gambling in the air legally speaking, without a final ruling from a judge to set a precedent in the matter.

Why Live Play Bingo was a social game that needed a live host

San Francisco-based Play live on mobile said in its Aug. 17 announcement regarding Live Hosts that it was “the first publisher to launch a 24-hour live-hosted social casino game with its first title, Live Play Bingo.”

Live Play Mobile CEO Stuart Lewis-Smith said:

“We are building a new category by combining the best of social, live streaming and linear TV experiences, while [sic] simultaneously delivering our vision of enriching the lives of players with real human interactions in our games.

Lewis-Smith is a veteran of the gaming industry. He was the CEO of Idle games (Acquired by Sony), and Senior Vice President and General Manager of GSN gamesbefore coming to Live Play Mobile, which describes itself as “a new social gaming platform that combines live TV formats with mobile games”.

Live Host Announcement features the social casino gaming market as a $ 7.7 billion opportunity in 2021, with bingo as the fastest growing category, according to Eilers & Krejcik Gaming.

Live Play Mobile’s announcement describes the new product as performing:

“The early engagement metrics are encouraging, with 43 minutes of video consumed in Live Play Bingo per player per day, about 50% more than the average social casino game.”

Of the society 25 guests broadcast from the studios of Hollywood and London. They call bingo numbers, announce winners and entertain players.

Live dealer games take over the regulated real money casino market in the United States

Real money live dealer casino games have been around in the United States since 2016. Gold Nugget Casino has been the pioneer in this regard, enabling Ezugi to open a studio on its premises in Atlantic City. Ezugi was later acquired by his rival Evolution to form an effective monopoly in the United States.

Evolution’s dealers oversee games like baccarat, blackjack, craps, poker and roulette at the studios of Michigan, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. From April to June 2021, Evolution’s North American operations – which included Canada and Mexico – generated € 27.2 million.

West Virginia is the only state with legal online casino betting that does not have an Evolution studio.

Evolution will no longer retain its monopoly. Playtech is preparing to open his own studio in Michigan. Playtech Live Casino will work from Southfield, 20 minutes northwest of Detroit, which also serves as Evolution’s home in the state.

The power of Playtech platforms Parx Interactiveproducts, in accordance with a partnership agreement concluded in February 2021. Parx powers Play Gun Lake, the online casino and sports betting of Gun Lake Pottawatomi Indian Tribe. However, the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has not yet approved a live dealer for Play Gun Lake.

Playtech has even more ambitious plans ahead, according to its March 2021 press release on the Michigan live-streaming studio:

“The confirmation of Playtech’s first live entertainment studio in the US is the latest step in Playtech’s US roadmap, as the leading technology provider executes its strategy of delivering its software and services to all Regulated states of the United States. “
