Sports betting, online casino now widely available in Connecticut

Nineteen days after the first bet and seven days after the first mobile bet, operators in Connecticut opened up digital sports betting and iCasino to anyone in the state who wants to gamble.

The Department of Consumer Protection removed any remaining restrictions on time, allowed bets, or the number of people allowed to play on each platform at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, so Connecticut is officially one of the near from 30 fully live and legal sports betting jurisdictions in the United States.

Under the new law and tribal agreements, DraftKings (Foxwoods) and FanDuel (Mohegan Sun) can offer retail and digital sports betting as well as an online casino, while the Connecticut Lottery, in partnership with Rush Street Interactive , can offer retail and digital sports betting. The lottery platform will be available through RSI’s PlaySugarHouse brand.

Tribal retail sports betting took their first bets on September 30, and all three operators launched digital sports betting platforms with restrictions during a soft launch period starting October 12. DraftKings and FanDuel also launched an online casino online launch last week.

“This is an exciting time for our state and our tribal partners,” Governor Ned Lamont said in a statement. “Connecticut has proven to be a leader in the gaming economy for decades, and that legacy will continue with the launch of these new online options for all eligible residents. I am very proud to say that I placed the first in-person legal sports bet in the history of our state just two weeks ago, and I encourage those who wish to participate in the placing of bets to do so in such a manner. responsible.

While all of the digital options that will be available in the state are now operational, the number of retail outlets could increase to up to 15 once the Connecticut Lottery and its partners start operating. Betting is allowed on professional, college, and amateur sports, but the new law prohibits betting on Connecticut college teams.
